Why Bunga Damai

A bureau built around your pace

We do not manage high-volume caseloads. Every client receives the undivided attention their circumstances deserve.

No hurry, ever

Sessions run as long as necessary. We do not book back-to-back appointments, and we do not use timer interruptions.

Plain English throughout

Every letter, memorandum, and review is written to be understood without a dictionary. Legal language is translated, not imposed.

Strict confidentiality

Family matters are private matters. Nothing leaves this office without your express consent, and files are held to the highest discretionary standard.

Fixed fees, agreed in advance

Our fees are stated clearly before engagement begins. There are no hourly surprises or supplementary charges added after the work is done.

Sensitivity to family dynamics

We have spent years in family law practice and understand that the legal dimension is rarely the only one. Emotional context shapes every piece of advice we give.

Rooted in Kuala Lumpur

We practise within the Malaysian legal framework and draw on an established network of local mediators, family counsellors, and related professionals.

Is there something on your mind?

We are glad to have a first conversation at no charge — simply to hear the situation and say honestly whether we are in a position to help. There is no obligation on either side.

Questions

Things people commonly ask

What is the difference between a consultation and the first session?
A first conversation — by telephone or in person — is a brief, complimentary exchange where we listen to your situation and tell you whether our services are a reasonable match. If you then choose to engage us, a formal session is scheduled and the agreed fee applies from that point.
How long does a family letter drafting engagement typically take?
We usually share a first draft within five to seven working days of receiving the background information we need. After your review and any adjustments, the final letter is ready within two to three additional working days.
Do I need to attend mediation sessions in person?
Where all parties agree, mediation can be conducted remotely. We are experienced in coordinating both in-person and video-conferenced sessions and will discuss whichever format is more comfortable for everyone involved.
Will what I share with you remain private?
Legal professional privilege applies to all communications between a client and their legal adviser in Malaysia. We also maintain our own strict internal confidentiality standards that go beyond the minimum the law requires.
Can the Comprehensive Family Affairs Review be done in stages?
Yes. Many clients find it helpful to address one area at a time — perhaps beginning with inheritance arrangements and returning later to property matters. We work at whatever pace suits the client's circumstances.
Are your fees negotiable?
Our published fees reflect the full care and time we put into each engagement. We do not routinely discount them, as doing so would require us to reduce that care. If your circumstances make the fee a genuine difficulty, we are willing to have a frank conversation.
